Hello,
I am currently participating in some voluntary work within the educational sector of Portsmouth's City Museums and Records Service. My aim is to compile groups of historical artefacts, from the Museum's loan collection, for use by pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. These artefacts can then be loaned out to secondary schools in the area. As I hope to relate to these collections possible classroom activities, ld be grateful to hear about other projects, where you have used museum collections to work with the same target audience.
It would be really helpful, if you have experience of this to share any thoughts on the particular needs of these children (as varied as they are...) that you feel museum's are in a position to address, through this kind of work.
I'd be happy to chat over the 'phone if this is too much to respond to in writing!
Many thanks,
Kate Braun
