Dear All,
At the Galleries of Justice we will be opening a new Victorian area for primary
schools later this year. This is a new and exciting development for the Galleries
as we are looking to engage a new audience and offer a completely unique
Victorian experience.
The area will be a dramatic interpretation of a Victorian slum area in the
city of Nottingham, using setworks, illustration and props to create a Victorian
space for lots of different activities for primary schools.
We are looking to incorporate into the space as many authentic Victorian
items as possible (and accurate replicas where not) and so we are on the
look out for all things Victorian!
Does anyone have any sources they could recommend for Victorian artefacts
or replicas? Does anyone have duplicate items in their handling collections
looking for a good home? Or would anyone be interested in loaning items to
the Galleries of Justice for display?
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who could help me with the development
of this new area for primary schools. In return if anyone is looking to develop
a secondary school audience for their museum, we may have some tips we can
share in return. We have a very strong secondary school audience here at
the Galleries - but do not currently have many primary schools visiting.
I look forward to hearing from you.
