GEM National Training Day
Move Your Mind - Working in partnerships with young people
Thursday 3 February 2005 at the Imperial War Museum North, Manchester
As the main focus of the Moving Minds project is about inspiring learning
for all, we are inviting you to a day of dissemination, discussion,
networking and sharing of good practice. Learn the truth - warts and all!
The day will include active participation in three workshops and you will
learn:
· how to use generic learning outcomes (GLOs) to evaluate and develop
projects & services,
· new ideas for activities with one of the project artists, and
· yurt building from a yurt maker.
Moving Minds is one of thirteen projects funded by DCMS and DfES under the
national/regional partnerships programme for education. It is a unique
partnership between museums, galleries, young people and artists, and their
communities.
Moving Minds has given all the partners involved the opportunity to work
with young people to foster an understanding of culture, migration and
identity. The project has produced some fascinating work, ranging from
yurts (nomadic homes) to videos, music and graffiti - all on display in the
Move Your Mind exhibition at IWM North.
Imperial War Museum North, together with Leeds Museums & Galleries and
Bradford Museums, Galleries & Heritage, are continuing their successful
partnership for a second year.
