Opportunity to Tender for a Learning Consultant at The Women’s Library,
London Metropolitan University.
The Women’s Library is entering an exciting new phase of its development
and is moving towards implementation of the Inspiring Learning for All
framework. As part of this project, we have been awarded a Project Planning
Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to prepare an audience development
plan.
Our staff will play key roles delivering collection based learning and
contributing creatively to extending use of our collections for new
audiences. To help us develop the skills to do this, we wish to engage a
consultant who will discuss staff development needs, draw up a training
programme and implement it with support from the Project Co-ordinator.
Up to five workshops will be required for professional library staff, the
audience development team and our potential partners to help us learn to
use objects and archives for learning and to consider interpretation issues
for our new audiences.
Consultants will be expected to:
· Plan and facilitate the training sessions
· Identify key experts as required and arrange their sessions
· Evaluate the sessions and identify a network of needs (both
community and staff development) and operating principles for partnerships.
· Prepare a report and action plan for delivery.
Skills/ Knowledge Requirements
· Knowledge of collection based learning, knowledge of ILFA and
learning outcomes
· Experience of work with communities and knowledge of their needs
· Understanding of building partnerships and requirements for clarity
and agreement of expected outcomes.
Timescale
We anticipate that the workshops will be delivered in two phases: in
September 2005 and February 2006. It is expected that this will require up
to 13 days including preparation time and evaluation.
Budget
Up to GBP6,300 (inclusive of expenses and VAT as applicable) is available
for the involvement of a learning consultant to help us with this work.
