Postdoctoral position in laser spectroscopy in the University of Helsinki,
Finland
A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry
for one year and five months starting August 1st 2005. Salary is about 2700
euro per month. The successful candidate is expected to carry out
experimental research in the field of laser spectroscopy, where we are
particularly interested in developing new spectroscopic laser methods for
molecular overtone state studies. Possible projects involving active laser
stabilization (Pound-Drever-Hall locking) to an external high-finesse cavity
include
- cavity ring-down spectroscopy
- vibration-rotation fluorescence studies
- Raman spectroscopy
- kinetics studies
For some of our publications in laser spectroscopy see particularly J. Chem.
Phys. 117, 8686 (2002), and Chem. Phys. Letters 346, 373 (2001) and 396, 213
(2004).
The Helsinki molecular spectroscopy group has excellent experimental and
computational facilities. The group consists of about 10 people. Our
laboratory is located in the Chemistry Department building in the new
science campus area. Helsinki being the capital offers many cultural events
all year through. Finland is particularly attractive due to its wild nature,
which includes tens of thousands of lakes and islands. There are excellent
possibilities both for summer and winter sport activities. More information
can be obtained from Prof. Lauri Halonen, tel. +358-9-19150280, fax
