Postdoctoral Position in Applied and Environmental Geophysics
The Institute of Geophysics at the University of Lausanne has an opening for a gifted postdoctoral researcher in the field of applied and environmental geophysics to start in early 2006. The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) initiate and conduct his/her own research projects, (ii) supervise jointly undergraduate- and doctoral-level thesis projects, and (iii) participate in the teaching of applied geophysics courses. Although we are soliciting applications from all domains of applied and environmental geophysics, in-depth experience of one or several of the following domains would be highly desirable: borehole geophysics, petrophysics, hydrogeophysics, geoelectrics/IP, borehole radar/seismics. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in geophysics. A working understanding of French would be an advantage. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptionally motivated and dynamic young researcher to launch his/her own career by actively participating in the formation of a new research group. Our institute is well equipped and scenically located on the shores of Lake Geneva, a region of outstanding natural beauty offering a vibrant cosmopolitan culture and very high quality of life.
