The British Universities Film and Video Council (BUFVC) provides an
excellent advisory service for using film in an educational context, and
relevant copyright issues. They are also responsible for a considerable
amount of footage being digitised through a joint project with ITN and have
libraries.
Ask to speak to someone in the library/Advice Service on 020 7393 1500 -
their website is www.bufvc.ac.uk.
There may be a charge for their advice, as they are a membership
organisation but their knowledge is fantastic. You can pretty much tell
them what footage you are interested in and they will be able to tell you
almost everything about it short of what the director likes for breakfast!
best wishes
Sandra
