Just a quick note that I bought it this morning and read it twice in a pub
before heading off to the Literature Festival. First reaction was that the
voice was tremendous and reminded me of David Jones' Tribune's Visitation.
And the language was great all the way through. But at the end of it, as I
said, before what had I read?
And just to say that Tariq Ali and especially Helena Kennedy were quite
brilliant tonight. Nobody can make head or tail of the people who are
running the UK and Tony Blair never reads a book and has no sense of
history. The erosion of civil liberties is quite dramatic.
