Dear all, with outside knowledge can I say that Ofsted are not impressed
with how the majority of schools teach citizenship / PHSE and are /
will be creating a new atmosphere and drive towards improving the
teaching. The basic report stated (left at home at the moment I can
tomorrow give you the source, very interesting reading it is) that
schools that add citizenship and PHSE to other subjects do nothing at
all. The report followed on from research that Ofsted had undertaken,
and the responses from the taught pupils were such as what citizenship?
Both PHSE and citizenship have difficult concepts to put across, but
with knowledge sharing museums and art galleries are excellent tools for
educating.
