medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
As I recall, "someone" asked for depictions of water in medieval sculpture and I immediately suggested the tympanum at Moissac, which depicts, acc. to most art historians, a composite of themes from Rev.: the 24 elders, the crystal sea, etc. "Someone else" hooted at the suggestion that the wavy lines were water, but rather clouds or something else.
