medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone out there might know a handy (or available at all, no matter how old)
source on the medieval ecclesiastics, archdeacons especially, in the diocese of Paris. I know of the
Fasti Ecclesiae Gallicanae series, but Paris isn't out yet, and I would like to know about people
before their 1200-1500 period. The good old Gallia Christiana mentions archdeacons
occasionally, but only in the context of them becoming dean or bishop. I've also had the pleasure
of poring through Guerard's Notre-Dame cartulary, but it's hardly systematic. I've discovered how
much Le Neve and his modern editors have spoiled me when working on England!
In fact, any pointers whatsoever on French archdeacons would be great. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Winston B.
