Today (12. April) is the feast day of:
Zeno of Verona (d. 371) Zeno was from Roman Africa. He became
bishop of Verona in 362 and is especially noted for his opposition to
Arianism, firm hand with liturgical abuses, and encouragement of
consecrated virgins.
Sabas the Goth and companions (d. 372) Sabas was a Visigoth who
lived in what is now Romania. A devout Christian, when he was
captured by non-Christians he refused to eat meat of sacrificial
victims. This annoyed his captors, who tortured S. and several
companions to death and threw the bodies in the river Mussovo.
Tetricus of Auxerre (d. 707) Tetricus was abbot of St-Germain,
Auxerre and went on to become bishop there. He won a martyr's cult
because his archdeacon stabbed T. to death while he was sleeping on a
bench.
Erkembodo (d. 734) According to tradition an Irishman, Erkemobodo
succeeded St. Bertin as abbot of Sithiu. He built the monastery up
into one of the great houses of western Europe and became bishop of
nearby Therouanne in 722.
Alferius (d. 1050) Alferius was a Norman noble, a native of Salerno.
He was sent on an embassy to France but fell ill and when he
recovered became a monk at Cluny. The duke of Salerno got A to
return, and he then founded the monastery of La Cava, the mother
house of numerous Cluny-affiliated monasteries in southern Italy.
A's cult was confirmed in 1893.
Meinhard (blessed) (d. 1196) Meinhard was a Duch canon regular. He
went to Livonia as a missionary, where he became a bishop in 1184
(his headquarters were at Ikskile; the see was moved soon after his
death to Riga).

Turin. He was a lawyer and senator at Monferrato but gave it up to
become a Franciscan. He held sevreal important offices in the order
and was known as a vry effective preacher among both Muslims and
