One of them got seriously injured in a trowel juggling accident? ;-)
Theres a web site which says Spring 2004 but little else. Plenty of
scope to tut about the rock climbing as well as the archaeology ;-)

Since we are on the TV thread, what happened to that programme 'Extreme
Archaeology'? I thought that was supposed to be broadcast in Spring
2004.

Well Brian, my admittedly limited experience with the British Media
leads me to the conclusion that they are not, on the whole, people I
particularly want to do business with. I have met a few TV celebs in my
time and always ask why? Why are they paid so much money? Why do they
exist? What is the point of them? Are they real? Who cares? As far
as a code of practice is concerned I don't think any other profession
probably bothers too much so why should we unless we could sneak in a
clause that commits programme makers to giving us 10% of profits from
sale or hire!
For what it's worth;
Clause 1 - programme makers will provide a detailed professional report
on any archaeological investigations to the appropriate SMR within 20
years of completion
Clause 2 - programme makers will ensure that they seek the opinions of
all known experts and will accurately report on alternative
explanations for a site or theory unless this will result in a really
dull and unwatchable programme.
Clause 3 - programme makers will ensure that they do not film
archaeologists in beards and sandals which is of course wholly out of
character.
Clause 4 - programme makers will ensure that all archaeological
presenters will be beardless, svelte, well dressed and wearing the
latest designer sunglasses except in cases involving serious earth
moving machinery in large urban settings where the presenters will be
expected to be bearded and/or craggy faced individuals dressed in
oilskins and souwesters.
Clause 5 - Programme makers will not mention English Heritage in the
same breath as archaeology until such times as they re-restructure and
claim back their inheritance (have I gone too far here?)
Add your own now.....

Friday afternoon, we seem to have run out of steam on Wetlands GIS, so
can I float a new one to use up those last languid minutes.
Having enjoyed the media session at IFA, I have been talking to
colleagues about potential benefits on both sides of an ALGAO code of
practice for media and archaeological bodies.
The response so far is to the effect of `how have we managed without
one', but also `it will be tough negotiating the intellectual property
issue, because the media don't understand the concept of public
information'.
Any `Friday-ish' thoughts welcome. - Brian
