Neil, is Yorkshire so unimportant that it is safe to use it for practice
before moving on to real work, say in Lancashire?

Dear All,
Apologies for cross-posting, but we like to reach all those people that
other e-mail groups don't.
North Yorkshire County Council Environmental Services Directorate
Archaeological opportunities don't come any better *.
With over 19,000 entries in the County SMR, 880 scheduled areas, some 35
historic parks and gardens and 5 battlefields, North Yorkshire is an ideal
place to practice archaeology. The Heritage Section of the Countryside
Services Unit works to conserve and enhance this unique historic environment
by monitoring over 11,000 planning applications and thousands of other
schemes every year. We are now seeking to recruit an archaeological
assistant to join our team of dedicated specialists.
