Morning all,
Following Tyler's comments I contacted the EH web design team, and have
received the following which I pass on for information. Note that this comes
from collegues responsible for the main EH web site: the HELM designers will
comment further next week.
'English Heritage have developed an accessible version of their main website
to meet WAI guidelines and cater for a wider range of users than their
current content management system allows. We recognise that this isn't an
ideal solution and are working towards developing an integrated site that
meets the needs of a wider range of users.'
(Note WAI = Web Accessibility Initiative. See http://www.w3.org/WAI/)
Is this a standards issue that FISH should be tackling? The Forum on
Information Standards in Heritage is currently drawing up the agenda for its
next meeting (May 12th). FISH would welcome comments from HERForum members.
Would a FISH recommendation on web standards be of assistance to you,
perhaps in the context of seeking support for putting your HER online?
