Hello
Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about Welcome packs,
particularly those who were kind enough to send me samples - it was
a great help for my project. Below is a brief outline of my
findings.
There is a wide assortment of formats for welcome packs being
produced, from simple A5 folded leaflets to ‘filofax’ style loose
leaf folders. Specially designed A5 cardboard folders with a pocket
for individual leaflets were the most common amongst the samples
received. People looked for flexibility in what can be included in
the pack and to allow easier updating. The folder format allowed
this and also sets of leaflets meant that a lot of detailed
information for different services could be provided. Some
libraries services have taken an alternative route by producing very
colourful leaflets with large photographs and minimal text to
outline the breadth of service but not the detail. These follow the
format of more commercial marketing and convey a modern image of the
library. Regardless of their format, the majority of packs provided
an open and welcoming message.
Regards
Kirsty
