THE LIBRARIES OF THE NATIONAL TRUST:
A talk by Mark Purcell, Libraries Curator, The National Trust
Date: Wednesday 28th April 2004
Time: 6.30 p.m. for 7.00 p.m.
Venue: Woking Library, Gloucester Walk, Woking
(An optional light buffet with wine is available from 6.30, the SLAIG AGM
takes place from 7.00 ? 7.15)
Most of us when visiting National Trust properties will have taken a
particular interest in the libraries and book collections, probably
wishing we could sneak a closer look at the treasures they contain and
learn a bit more about their history. Mark Purcell, as Libraries Curator
of the National Trust, has overall responsibility for the maintenance and
care of these collections and we are delighted to welcome him as guest
speaker at our AGM. He will be unlocking the secrets hidden behind those
doors and book cabinets, and talking about his work and the vital role
that libraries have played in some of this country's finest houses.
This is a free, open meeting and all those who work or have worked in
Library and Information services in Surrey and the surrounding areas are
very welcome to come along. (The business part of the SLAIG AGM will be
very brief)!
The Library is 5 minutes walk from Woking Station and car parking is
available in the town centre car parks adjacent to the library.
