We are fortunate in that this year we have a brand new Sports Hall with an
examinations store off the main area. I can seat 200+ in the one room, this
being a self imposed limitation as anything larger becomes really
unmanageable.
The Head of Sports has been told that exams tale precedence and I have had
no hassle from him at all.
Amanuensis, Word Processor users etc are my main problem as they need a
seperate room.
We have resolved this issue by making our MIS manager responsible for
providing me with rooms when required, and she also provides staff rotas for
invigilation by request.
This all works very well and I don't get involved with tutors finding
excuses not to be there! Effectively they find themselves moaning at another
tutor who has no sympathy. I think they are told to arrange a swap
themselves and inform the MIS manager of the changes. Whatever, it works
well.
The large room is very effective and has saved me a lot of problems. I have
only needed to use the hall once or twice in january, citizenship/gen
studies saw over 300 in two rooms and an odd 50 in a couple of classrooms.
