Several people asked for the feedback I got on the issue of hiring wigs out
and strategies to avoid harbouring unwelcome beasties in them. Someone
usefully pointed out that these principles apply to hats and other headgear.
Here's the gist of my responses:
Headlice cannot survive extreme low temperatures - putting the wig in a
plastic bag in the freezer should kill them, and their eggs off.
To avoid the lice spreading within the classroom - advise teachers ask the
children to bring a bandanna/headscarf or stocking cap to contain their hair
when trying the wig on.
Thankyou to all my respondants. I hope others find this useful
