Hi Rob
There are least two points to consider
Payment for the development/configuration/installation of the interface program. If the addition of the module to the analyser did not require any program changes then there should not be a charge since there were no changes made.
Payment of a licence to use the program. However if the interface program was licenced for a fixed number of interfaced tests then there may be a charge if you wanted to exceed this number of tests - all depends on the terms of their software licence. The software licence aggreements would vary from company to company and from country to country.
hope this helps

We are looking at a new LIS system and the vendor is suggesting that we should
pay for the interface per analyser rather per connection. For example, we have
a Roche PP and DP, both connected to the same PSM, which is then connected to
our existing LIS. We paid the old vendor for just one interface (PSM to LIS) as
the PSM is connected to both Modulars.
The new vendor is suggesting that we should pay for 2 interfaces, and presumably
will ask for more money later if we try to attach another system to the PSM.
What are the experiences and opinions of the list members? Do LIS vendors
commonly charge per connection or per analyser elsewhere?
Many thanks for any replies.
