Dear All,
Recently at the Royal Surrey County, Guildford, a patient with DKA had a
venous blood glucose measured in A+E on the Medisense PCx POC device. The
result was 15.7mmol/L, however the same sample was sent to the Lab and the
glucose result on the Advia 1650 was 35.1mmol/L. Subsequent measurements
have revealed that the PCx value is spuriously low.
Has anyone had any similar experiences with the PCx or any other POC device
and are there any suggested mechanisms for this?
Thanks,
Beth Davies
