UK delegates mainly
The previously-proposed UK NEQAS HbA1c Standardisation Meeting is confirmed for Thursday 3rd June 2004.
The location is Birmingham, the exact venue is not yet confirmed. It will depend on the numbers. 80 have pre-registered, the maximum is 140.
A registration form is on the web at
http://www.ukneqas.org.uk/Directory/CC/hba1c.htm
where there are full details about payment
There can be no sponsorship for this meeting as I want all the companies to be there as delegates and contributors to the discussions in their own right. As a consequence I will have to charge a modest fee, but there is a reduced rate for recognised BMS/CS trainees.
CPD points are available.
The programme will be largely delegate driven with a strong input from industry. If anyone has a burning desire to speak then I would be happy to let them. In addition, if anyone has innovative technology they would like to talk about, that is OK too.
My intention for this meeting is to join up all of our thinking about HbA1c standardisation with respect to metrological principles, reference methods, reference materials, traceability, IVDD requirements etc etc. It will not just be an IFCC vs DCCT rant!
All lab medicine staff types and grades are welcome, as well as those from primary care and the diabetic community if list-members can arrange cross-postings to other lists.
You do not have to be a UK NEQAS participant in the glycated haemoglobin scheme to attend.
See you there!
