Data from the UK NEQAS for Urinary Albumin (sorry, I don't like
the misnomer "microalbumin") would suggest that labs are not too
good at measuring low level albumin. I have just put on the web
under the "Scheme Button" on our Reports and Results Web-page
some scatterplots of UAlb/Creatinine ratios which indicate this
quite well. It's essentially the same data that appears in the regular
bi-monthly reports, but presented in a way that really highlights the
true state-of-the-art.
Mailbase users may wish to check these out.
In general terms, I am not sure if comparing a POCT system
against a flawed lab-based system is a true comparison!
