Do we all accept that urine collections for catecholamines or related molecules have to be collected into acid containing bottles. It has been suggested to me , by our Infection Control people, that urine bottles should be treated as Medical Devices and presumably,to be Charter Marked , should be supplied by the manufacturer prefilled with preservative.Do labs add acid , and related preservatives to bottles any more or do I have to spend more money on purchasing bottles from a supplier? Please resist the temptation ,as I did, of mentioning all these people out there with MRSA when thinking about this problem.
