Subject: S. oestradiol 19,514 pmol/L? a superwomen!!
Dear All
We recieved a request for serum oestradiol measurement on a 51-year-old lady on HRT. The level was phenomenally high at 19514 pmol/L, on contacting the GP it transpired that the lady was using sandrena gel by rubbing it on her forearms. We concluded that she isn't a superwomen, and that what we have measured is either a contamination from the gel itself or the blood vessels nearby the application area usually attain a high oestradiol concentrations.
Has anybody seen this before? If not, beware of it.
thanks
Mohammad
