Subject: When should we be looking to measure alternatives to HbA1c?
Does anyone know of a suitable source of information relating to current
ideas/protocols/policies relating to the measurement of HbA1c in patients
with abnormal haemoglobins?
We are increasingly being questioned about the validity of the HbA1c we
report (Menarini 8140) in patients with HbS, HbC, beta-thalasaemias etc.
Also is data available on the rates of 'glycation' of the various
haemoglobins?
