Also known as Bartholomew of Grottaferrata (and, though hardly distinctively, as Bartholomew the Younger). A rather younger member of the community that followed Nilus from Serperi to Tusculum, he was Grottaferrata's fourth abbot, after Nilus himself (so listed because he was the founder, though he died as construction on the new monastery was just getting started), Paul, and Cyril. B.'s Vita calls him "hosios", which though literally meaning "blessed" is a term customarily used for saints; many Roman Catholic sources (e.g., the old Catholic Encyclopedia; various "saints of the day" lists) call him Saint Bartholomew.
