medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
An early 16th-century figure of Raphael in stained glass, from
central France but now in the Detroil Institute of Arts, is inscribed
SS RAPHAEL, "Most Holy Raphael". He is accompanied by STA FIDES, "St
Faith", ISAIS PROA, "Isaiah, Prophet", and SA TIBURTINA, "Holy
Tiburtine [Sibyl]". See Virginia Chieffo Raguin and Helen Jackson
Zakin, Stained Glass before 1700 in the Collections of the Midwest
States, Corpus Vitrearum USA, Part VIII (London, 2001), vol. 1, pp.
236-42.
