Colleagues may be interested in the following event which takes place 9.30-
11.15am Friday 28th February at the Ironmongers' Hall near the Barbican,
London.
Many would agree that public libraries are at a crucial point in their
development. There are more opportunities than ever before for delivering
services differently. There are also real challenges. So how can those who
manage the multitude of services that fall within the orbit of public
libraries steer a path that delivers effective services for an increased
number of users?
The DCMS believes that the new Framework for Public Libraries will
stimulate debate and deliver both clarity of objective and purpose for the
public library network.
Rt. Hon. Baroness Blackstone, Minister of State (and Minister for the Arts)
will offer an insight into the thinking behind this new framework, and her
aspirations for its success.
David Curtis will then outline thinking within the Audit Commission about
how, and to what effect, new planning platforms will help local authorities
deliver this new future for public libraries.
This seminar is specifically targeted and open to:
Elected members with responsibility for libraries, learning and cultural
services
Head of library services or "deputies"
Corporate strategic managers
