Dear All,
Greetings from coastal Suffolk in Eastern England.
This week's BMJ has published an interesting article on a test to test how
competent are we in EBM.
Ramos KD, Schafer S, Tracz SM. Validation of the Fresno test of competence
in evidence based medicine. BMJ 2003;326:319-321 ( 8 February )
Full free text access: http://bmj.com/cgi/content/full/326/7384/319
This is what the authors say about their test:
"The practice of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) involves some basic knowledge
and skills related to searching and evaluating medical literature. This
UCSF-Fresno Medical Education tool is designed to assess the level at which
you are already utilizing EBM skills. Please complete the entire test in one
sitting. There are 7 short answer questions, 2 questions that require a
series of mathematical calculations, and three fill-in-the-blank questions.
Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to complete the test"
The test and its marking is available on line @

I am hoping to have a go at it this weekend.
I thought some of you might be interested in this test.
Wishing U all a wonderful weekend.
Cheers & regards,
Badri
