Thanks for your information. On Belinda Schwehr, at Rowe and Maw, London. If the have not got a Community Legal Aid franchise, then is no-way I could afford to go private. Do you know if the take on legal aid cases ? There could be a problem with communication. due to me living in Hull, East Yorkshire.
On the issue of David Reubain. I tried this firm, but they are not taken any cases on at the moment, due to overwork. Is this the firm what won the Dyslexia case in the U.K ?
If, anyone knows of a firm of solicitors in Yorkshire with a Community Legal Aid Franchise and also a good record of working with disabled people on Community Care, Disability Discrimination, then let me know. We need to collate a data-base of solicitors/barristers who are disability friendly and in my case 'autistic friendly'. I have Aspergers Syndrome and SpLd's, in which means I experience discrimination due to my hidden impairments.
I have experience solicitors who are totally ignorant to disability issues and are discriminatory and abusive and they just see me and others disabled people in the U.K as a 'commodity', in making profit from human suffering through the legal aid franchise. If you complain an challenge them they just strike you-off and you are powerless within the present system to do anything. Solicitors and Barristers are within a capitalist free 'market' and disabled people as service users are treated beneath contempt and there are no-systems in place to make them more accountable. They are protected by the Law Society and the BAR Council and the Community Legal Service are not funding clinical negligent and failure of duty of care case and also disability discrimination and human rights cases.
The Disability Rights Commission, is tokenistic and has no-teeth or resources. I have personal experienced discrimination from this organisation and the Local Government and Health Service Ombudsman. These organisations give out the wrong information and many disabled people believe what they say about your rights.
They work like the Department for Work and Pension(Benefit Agency) in only given out basic information and telling blatant lies. This organisation gives on false information on disabled benefits and other benefits, in which billions of pounds in the U.K goes unclaimed on benefits, in which outweighs the fraudulent benefit claims. This agency like many other Government agencies put the responsibility onto the client(person) to find out there rights. I worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau for years and I know what there game is and I've experienced it myself.
I will state to all disabled people in the U.K do not believe the DRC or Ombudsman organisations they are there to stop disabled people receiving natural justice and a way of delaying the legal due-process to natural-justice. Get independent legal expert advice, if you can access it.
I would like to hear other disabled people's and/or their advocates/carers stories and views on the DRC and Ombudsman's.
It's easier said, then done and I've been trying to do this since 1995.
If anyone got any idea's I would welcome your input.
Also, anyone is welcome to send my email to other forums where I can collate more empirical research lifestories.
Regards
Colin R
