ADVOCACY OFFICER
Part-time, 3 days a week
Christian Blind Mission International (CBMI) is an independent,
non-denominational development organisation dedicated to the prevention and
curing of blindness, as well as to the education and rehabilitation of people
who are blind or have other disabilities.
CBMI (Aust.) is seeking to appoint an Advocacy Officer (3 days a week) to the
Field Support Department based at its office in Kew, Victoria.
The person appointed will :
1. Lead the formulation, plan and implementation of an advocacy strategy for
CBMI Australia which supports CBMI Australia’s mission.
2. Develop strategic alliances within CBMI and with other key
institutions/individuals to advance CBMIs’ mission, and to increase the
awareness of blindness and disability issues.
3 Research and prepare materials for advocacy activities to influence policy and
processes.
Applicants should have experience in advocacy, policy analysis and lobbying.
They should be personable, dynamic, well organised, and possess excellent
presentation, writing and networking skills. Applicants should be able to work
in a Christian team environment. An interest in overseas development is
essential, and qualifications or experience in this area will be highly
regarded.
