Greetings all,
A token, well maybe, recently discovered in a flower-bed in North Devon requires identification.
On the 'head' side is stamped around the head JOHN WILKINSUN IRON MASTER, the head presumably that of John Wilkinsun, is pointing to the right.
On the 'tails' side is a scene of what appears to be a brick furnace with arch to the right with a man feeding metal under a large mechanical hammer which is situated to the left. The date at the bottom of the motif is 1793.
The disc, the size of a pre decimal penny is made of copper.
Any ideas as to provenance.
Kindest regards,
Trevor.
