This query is related to the ongoing story of typing in of clinical details,
but arose separately in our lab. We have been using the Neoteric Scanner for
nearly 12 months, and it has been extremely useful (now indispensible!) as
an aid to authorising.
My query relates to the role of the scanner as a means of storing request
forms, previously done manually in smelly filing cabinets. Does anyone know
if there is a legally acceptable rate for the percentage of request forms
that can be successfully retraced. I'm asking as we have performed 3 audits
on our system and found 'miss' rates of 2.7-4.4%, i.e 2.7-4.4% of forms not
scanned, and are struggling to improve on this.
Any comments and ideas gratefully received.
