CONFERENCE UPDATE
The First International Conference on Cultural Criminology 9th-10th
May 2003 The Chancellor's Hall, Senate House, University of
London, Malet Street, London
Cultural Criminology 2003 will draw together the leading figures in
the field in a stimulating forum for presenting current thinking and
research, as well as a series of reflections on the future
development of cultural criminology. In addition to an impressive
line-up of speakers that already includes:
Jeff Ferrell, Mike Presdee, Stephen Lyng, Jock Young,
StephanieKane, Mark Hamm, Phil Cohen, Wayne Morrison and
Ken Tunnell
the conference organisers are delighted to announce that we will
now also be joined by:
Professor Jack Katz (author of Seductions of Crime and How
Emotions Work)
The aim of the conference is to encourage intense and focused
discussion on key issues. Consequently, all papers will be
presented in one room, with each paper being responded to by a
number of discussants. Spaces for this event are limited due to the
size of the room and the nature of the format. To reserve a place,

The conference is being run with the generous financial assistance
of the University of London's External Law Programme, however,
delegates are being charged a registration fee of £60 ($85). This
will include lunch and refreshments on both days.
