Background
In the United Kingdom services providing care for the Learning Disabled Offender, both in the NHS and independent health sectors and the criminal justice system, have struggled to find a platform for their speciality. Often professionals looking to share their expertise find themselves regarded as a minority interest by both health and criminal justice mainstream services and consequently are overlooked.

This three day international conference will exclusively focus on the needs of this group of individuals and will provide an opportunity to hear presentations from eminent international researchers as well as smaller scale research and innovations in concurrent presentations.

This conference to be held at the University of Central Lancashire will offer unparalleled networking opportunities for delegates from the UK and overseas.

Aims and objectives
This conference provides an opportunity for individuals from a range of organisations and agencies to meet together with the aim of

· Benchmarking in Forensic Learning Disability Settings
· Roles of Joint Secure Commissioning Teams
· Education and Training needs of staff 
· Focus on the key offences: arson; sexual offences and violent behaviour 
· Treatment approaches - what works? 
· Learning disability and the criminal justice system (PACE, remand, representation in court, diversion issues, youth custody and prisons, probation services) 
· Forensic services for learning disability: residential, community supervision
· Mental Health Legislation and the learning disabled offender (review of the Mental Health Act, consent, capacity, the MHAC, common law)
· Transcultural Issues
