article's very brief bibliography includes the following seemingly very
pertinent item:
Z. Krumphanzlova, "Amber: Its Significance in the Early Middle Ages,"
_Pamatky Archeologicke_ 83 (1992), 350-71.
One suspects, Krumphanzlova's title notwithstanding, that amber may have
had more than one significance in the early MA. Still...
