Isabelle / Isabeau / Elizabeth can be used for the same person depending
whether the scribe has a Frankish bias or a Latin one ...
yes, and the situation is further confused by the tendancy, especially among
French historians, to "translate" their Latin originals into "modern" French
names.
best stick to the Latin, for clarity and accuracy, in many instances.
