many thanks, Rob (and everyone else who's responded --i'm working through your
suggestions).
as it happens --as it was *meant* to happen, Bokannon would say-- i was
looking at the Sarum processional just yesterday (reading my posting gave me
some ideas for hunting).
for visual purposes it is, alas, what we call in southern Indianer an
"Al Gore" --Close but No Cigar.
it's on-line :

though paging through the thing looking for the illuminations in this format
is something of a pain.
but i had a look at the facsimile as well and the woodcuts are rather curious,
but seem to only depict the "tools" which will be required for any given
Procession --censor, candlesticks, various numbers of wierd little roundels
(tonsured heads??), etc.
no actual processions shown.
lots of muzak in the text.
fwiw, the same site also has the 1527 Missale ad vsum insignis ecclesie Sarum
:

the 1509 Manuale ad vsum insignis ecclesie Sarum :

and Wynkyn. d. Worde's 1503 Hore beate Marie virginis secundum vsum insignis
ecclesie Sarum :

(not exposed for the illuminations, alas.)
and, several others.
thanks again, to all.
