On September 24th Great Ormond Street Hospital is launching an online
writing competition for children. We'll be putting a link to the
competition web site on our UK Public Library pages and suggest that it
would be an appropriate link for library authority and other library web
sites. Please consider getting it onto your library's site. The
Write4GOSH site will be at http://www.write4gosh.nhs.uk and more
information is available from Kathy Chellew at [log in to unmask] or
her colleague at [log in to unmask]
Here are the details:
CHILDREN'S WRITING PRIZE MARKS 150TH BIRTHDAY
The hospital is about to launch Write4GOSH - the first writing prize to
reward child writers, rather than adults writing for children - to mark
the 150th anniversary of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Write4GOSH: The Great Ormond Street Children's Writing Prize, is a
national competition open to children aged six to 16. Working closely
with the Sunday Times and the Kids Club Network, Write4GOSH aims to
encourage children to 'cheer up a child in hospital', by writing stories
which can either be about their own experiences or creative.
Cherie Booth QC, as the prize's patron, heads up a prestigious panel of
judges that includes best selling children's authors, television and
broad-sheet journalists and an Australian pop diva.
Full details of the prize, including how to enter and prizes can be
accessed online at www.WRITE4GOSH.NHS.UK You can also sign up for a
newsletter on the site, which will bring you the latest news about the
competition every week. Contact Kathy Chellew in the press office for
more information, on ext 0450 or e-mail [log in to unmask]
Do help promote this very worthwhile project if you can.
Best wishes,
Sheila and Robert Harden
