Hi again folks,
As an addendum to my slightly earlier email, there really
is a lack of material being submitted to LSJ. Perhaps this
is because of the way it has been marketted/presented. Or
perhaps people do not have much to say or share on the
subject. The relative lack of communication on this list
may indicate that and explain why this list is more spas
than wells at the moment.
Anyway, i was interested to hear your suggestions for how
to proceed with LSJ. Especially because they largely
coincided with my own thoughts. I have been vaguely
involved with a project involving megaliths for some time
now. This project has involved a database-driven website
which can be updated as and when and can include all kinds
of material - text, pictures, sounds, search engines etc.
Whilst swapping over to this format would not solve my time
worries, it would at least mean that i was not so committed
to working on LSJ at certain times of the year. Articles
and other material could be uploaded as and when time
becomes available. It could also incorporate the Source
archive and a chat room and just about anything else we
would like to have in a non-time constraining way.
I feel that this is a shame because i still believe that
LSJ is an excellent concept and well produced.
Personally i am very reticent to get into paper publishing
LSJ as the time required would increase dramatically in the
light of printers deadlines and dealing with subscribers
and money.
Again, only 7 people have responded to this thread. This is
exactly the problem i have had with getting LSJ together.
So a big thankyou to those of you out there who have taken
an interested and helped in various ways with LSJ.
All the best,
Rich
