medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
There are many examples of Carolingian literary work in 'the history of Latin literature' this has plays written for the court of Charles the Bald by female playwrights and other interesting diversions. We can also thank the Carolingians love of the playwright Terrence to the survival of his corpus of work. I am sorry i do not have the exact reference for the book as i think there is a date given after the book title (400-1300) i think as its several years since I've read it but i hope this points you in the right direction. Also i know that during a conference in Germany several of these plays were re-enacted in the original Latin. I will get back to you with more information.
