John's addition actually should remind people that the most important
aspect of any webcast is not what you use but what the clients
(viewers/students) use to view the webcast. There is no point in using
Windows Media Player if on the college PCs there is only Quicktime or
Realplayer players. Also what if the clients' PCs are not powerful
enough and can not cope with streamed video (still an issue in many
colleges, less so in the home).
What about sound, headphones (health and safety issues due to
cross-transmission of infection), no point in streaming a webcast if the
client can not hear what you are saying.
What about accessibility (deaf students, can they read what you are
saying) the DDA is a real issue not something to be ignored.
