Here in the Western Colleges Consortium we have what I guess you could
call a VLE Master (well we have two, though we don't call ourselves VLE
(or MLE) Masters. We have nothing to do with the colleges' web sites,
but can act in an advisory capacity where applicable (we also have our
own website therefore we are webmasters as well....)
Director of the WCC, this role includes:
To lead and direct the future development of the Western Colleges
Consortium.
To support partner Colleges to maximise on-line learning as a delivery
mechanism using the VLE.
To represent the partner colleges on National and Regional Support
Forums and advise of development of ILT in relation to ICT
infrastructure, network management and on-line delivery of learning in a
total Managed Learning Environment.
WCC Campus Manager, this role includes:
To undertake the central management of the Virtual Learning Environment
(campus) on behalf of the partner colleges of WCC.
To ensure that learning content conforms to WCC specifications.
To manage the overall structure of and navigation through the VLE.
To support college based campus administrators to access and use VLE
effectively, supporting and where appropriate delivering staff
development in VLE use, tutoring skills on line and authoring.
We work with five (was seven) FE Colleges within the former Avon area.
The role of the WCC is
To exploit developments in ICT and ILT using new platforms to provide
innovative solutions that allow learning at the time, place and pace and
in a mode to suit the learner.
To develop VLE to be used by the students of each partner college both
on site and remotely to access learning materials.
To collaborate with the partner colleges in the development, purchase,
and customisation of high quality learning materials to be delivered on
the virtual campus.
Hope this is useful
