Dear friends
There will be a seminar to launch Catalyst's new report "The Challenge of
Longer Life: Economic burden or social opportunity?" on Monday 25 November,
11am-1pm in the Jubilee Room, House of Commons.
The publication is the outcome of a unique Working Group brought together to
assess the public policy implications of an ageing population. Participants
included Professor Steve Fothergill (Sheffield Hallam University); Kevin
Gardiner (Credit Suisse First Boston); Dr Jay Ginn (Centre for Research on
Ageing and Gender); Patrick Grattan (Third Age Employment Network); John
Grieve Smith (Cambridge University); John Hawksworth (Pricewaterhouse
Coopers); Dr Felicia Huppert (CIRCA); Tony Lynes (National Pensioners'
Convention); Gerald Lyons (Standard Chartered Bank); Phil Mullan (Cyberia);
and Dr Philip Taylor (CIRCA). Their insights will be especially timely as we
await the Government's imminent Green Paper on public, private and
occupational pension provision. But the Report also contains important
conclusions regarding health, social care, and employment policy. A number
of the authors will be present at the seminar to answer questions about
their findings.
Numbers are limited however so if you would like to attend please email

Best wishes
