Dear All
Art, Science and the Public Good - a Royal Society and Tate Modern
collaboration for National Science Week - 6.30pm on Friday 15 March, at the
Starr Auditorium, Tate Modern, Bankside, London SE1
I am writing to inform you about an exciting new collaboration between the
Royal Society and Tate Modern. At 6.30pm on Friday 15 March, as part of
National Science Week, we have organised a panel discussion on how the
funding and ownership, whether public or commercial, of art and science
affect artistic and scientific practices.
Speakers:
- Andrew Brighton, a contributing editor to 'Art for All? Their Policies
and Our Culture' and author of 'Francis Bacon'.
- Clare Matterson, Director of the Medicine, Society and History Programme
at the Wellcome Trust.
- George Monbiot, writer and environmentalist, described by the Evening
Standard as one of the 25 most influential people in Britain, and by the
Independent on Sunday as one of the 40 international prophets of the 21st
Century
- Siān Ede (Chairman), Arts Director at The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation
and editor of 'Strange and Charmed: science and the contemporary visual
arts'.
Tickets for Art, Science and the Public Good are available from Tate
Ticketing, tel: 020 7887 8888, and are priced £6 (£3 concessions).
I very much hope that you'll be able to attend this important discussion and
look forward to seeing you at Tate Modern next month.
Kind regards
Aosaf
