Science and society
Royal Society Science Year Lecture by Robert May, President of the Royal
Society
Wednesday 23 January at 6.30pm
Will the genetic modification of crops destroy the environment? Should the
cloning of people be banned? How certain are we that human production of
carbon dioxide is causing catastrophic global climate change? Until what age
will I live? These are the kind of questions that science raises today with
increasing frequency, highlighting profound insights and dilemmas, as we
discover more about ourselves and the world in which we live.
In this Science Year lecture, Robert May challenges his audience to think
about such questions and the roles that scientists need to play in society,
now and in the future.
Admission is by ticket only. Tickets are FREE and can be obtained by
