This is the first European course of its kind, focusing on the development
of creative educational relationships between the school and the art
museum. It is intended for school teachers, advisory teachers and
headteachers, especially for pupils aged 4-14, as well as for museum
education staff and animateurs.
The course will be delivered in three languages: english, french and
italian. Communication will be facilitated by interpreters. The same course
will be repeated at each venue, but its content will vary slightly because
of the differences in local facilities.
The course will be delivered by a group of tutors from France, Italy and
the UK, specialising in museum education, visual arts education, teacher
training and research, language and literacy. Teaching will be at
university level and on completion, a certificate of attendance will be
provided from the University of East Anglia, IRRE Piemonte, Galleria Civica
d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea and Inspection Académique de l’ Isère.
This course is the result of a three year research and development project,
funded under the Socrates programme of the European Union.

Training can be lively and enjoyable!
There will be lectures by course tutors and guest lecturers, round-table
discussions, gallery visits and workshops, practical studio-work,
field-work in the local environment.
· Time for self-reflection
Participants will have time each day for reflecting on the course input as
well as opportunities for personal tutorials and for sharing ideas in small
group discussions.
· Opportunities for linking the course to your own experience
Participants will be asked to submit materials or ideas about past, present
or future work relating to their own museum and school relationships. These
may form the basis for further discussion and development during the course.
Cost for the participants:
§ Cost: €1,200 (to cover course fee, accommodation and daily
subsistence).
§ Full fees will be payable in advance (deadline for payment: 30
April 2002 for the first course; 30 April 2003 for the second course)
§ A cancellation fee of 100 euros will apply from one month before
start of the course
Grants
· Teachers and educators have the right to apply for a grant from the
European Commission Socrates programme in order to cover their expenses for
the course. For more information and application forms, contact the

· The National Agency Deadline for application for grants is 1st
