GEM Research 2002
We will be leading a debate at this year's GEM Conference looking at the
current position of museum education and education officers in the UK. We
would like your help and have designed a questionnaire to collect the
information required.
This research follows a survey recently carried out by the Museum Professional
Group/ SMSR [Social & Marketing Strategic Research] which looked at recent
entrants to the museum profession (but not education staff). This was published
in the MJ in March 2002, and looked at salary levels, training, management
support, career progression, networks and motivation.
The GEM questionnaire will allow us to explore similar issues in the Conference
debate. All answers will be treated in strict confidence. If you are quoted,
it will say ' Museum Education Officer, [your region]'. You can email, fax or
post the questionnaire back. A summary of the findings will be presented at
Conference and then a more detailed synopsis will be published in GEM News.
As we shouldn't send attachments via mailbases, you can get hold of the
questionnaire by:
- requesting one via email from me or Stephen Allen
- by requesting one to be posted or sent by fax
- on the NEMLAC website - http://www.nemlac.co.uk/page.php3?82
Please send your replies to Ian Blackwell by Friday 23 August at the latest.
Thank you for your support.
