One of my dermatological colleagues has a patient who experiences
anaphylactoid symptoms and signs related to menstrual cycle. He has found a
paper describing skin-prick testing with oestrogens in a similar case.
Unfortunately the substance used in the paper (Theelin - oestrone I think)
is now not available. He asked if we had any oestradiol of a known
concentration they could use. We don't, and I'm dubious about ordering eg
oestradiol hemisuccinate from Sigma. Anyway, on closer questioning, it
appears the episodes occur during the first few days of the cycle so I don't
see much point in looking for oestrogen sensitivity. Anybody any suggestions
of what might cause the problem?
Thanks
A Taylor
